What is Yoni Mapping?
Yoni is a Sanskrit word for the female reproductive system – the vulva, vagina, and womb – meaning “life force of the universe.” Yoni mapping is a practice used in therapeutic yoni massage that helps you explore your yoni as a whole. While therapeutic yoni massage sessions often involve coaching, boundary setting, anatomy education, relaxing body massage, and grounding practices to lead up to receiving touch and massage on your yoni, the practice of yoni mapping is weaved into these sessions to help you understand sensation in your body.
Yoni mapping involves slow, consent-based touch that helps you identify areas of sensation, numbness, discomfort, and pleasure, bringing awareness to different parts of your anatomy. It is an opening of a communication channel between you and your yoni. During a yoni mapping session, you are invited to adopt a sense of curiosity by tuning into the subtle sensations in isolated parts of your vulva and vagina, verbalising the sensations, and creating a mental “map” of what you feel – where you hold tension, where you feel pleasure, and how your body responds to touch.
By slowing down, removing the goal of what you’re “supposed to” feel, and tuning into your sensations, yoni mapping allows you to connect with your body on a physical, mental, emotional, and energetic level, helping you release blockages and gain a deeper understanding of your body’s wisdom.
How do I know if I need a session?
