Naturopath Jessie-Anne shares how a naturopath can support you on your journey of living with herpes.
I understand firsthand how many mixed feelings a herpes diagnosis can surface; physically, emotionally, and socially. While it can feel isolating, the truth is that herpes is very common. In Australia, 1 in 2 people have HSV1 (typically as cold sores) and 1 in 8 have HSV2 (typically as genital herpes). That means in a room full of people, you are not alone.
Herpes still carries way more stigma than it should. Many people feel shame or uncertainty after a diagnosis, and the reality is, it can f@%king hurt! There are so many gaps, so many questions, so many what if’s - you are not alone and while it may be hard to believe right now, herpes can become one of life’s most beautiful learnings (except it doesn’t feel that way when you’re in pain - I get it!)
In my naturopathic clinic, my main goal is to make sure you feel safe, seen, and receive the care you deserve. I support people living with herpes in a holistic way by using evidence-based herbs and nutrients to help strengthen the immune and nervous system.
Support for herpes doesn’t always come from one avenue. It can often take a village of support, such as a Naturopath, counsellor and a GP you feel comfortable with, to help foster a sense of safety and healing.
Through naturopathic medicine, we can help to reduce recurrent outbreaks, reduce pain and help you to feel strong again by supporting your immunity, nervous system, microbiome and fostering a non-judgemental space.
Whether you’ve just been diagnosed or have been living with herpes for years, there are gentle, effective ways to support your body and feel more at home in yourself.
