Embracing our Cyclical nature,
Embracing Our Cyclical Nature
Menstruality educator Jade Estelle helps people balance and understand their cycles.
As women, our bodies are beautifully cyclical. A rhythm that mirrors the tides, the moon, and the changing of the seasons. Unlike the linear hormonal pattern that men experience daily, our hormones move in a monthly dance. This cycle influences our energy, mood, creativity, and even how we connect with others. When we learn to honour this rhythm rather than resist it, life begins to flow with more ease, self-compassion, and purpose.
Throughout roughly 28 days (though every woman’s cycle is unique), our hormones rise and fall, bringing different strengths and needs to each phase. No two days are ever the same and that’s the magic of being cyclical. This doesn’t make us unpredictable or erratic, it makes us dynamic.
Our menstrual cycle aligns beautifully with nature’s cycles, the moon above us, the earth beneath us, and the archetypes within us.
Menstrual Phase (Days 1–5) — The Crone / Winter / NewMoon
This is our time of deep rest and reflection. Just as the earth lies quiet in winter and the moon disappears into darkness, our bodies ask us to slow down. It’s a time for releasingphysically, emotionally and reconnecting to our intuition.
Ask yourself: What needs to be let go of so something new can grow?
Follicular Phase (Days 6–14) — The Maiden / Spring / Waxing Moon
Estrogen begins to rise, and with it comes fresh energy, curiosity, and optimism. Like springtime buds, we feel renewed and ready to explore. This is the perfect phase to set intentions, try new things, and embrace creativity.
Ask yourself: What new ideas or adventures am I ready to begin?
Ovulatory Phase (Days 15–19) — The Mother / Summer / Full Moon
This is the phase of fullness, connection, and radiance. We often feel social, nurturing, and magnetic. It’s a time to communicate, collaborate, and share your gifts with the world.
Ask yourself: How can I nurture and create from this abundance?
Luteal Phase (Days 20–28) — The Wise Woman / Autumn / Waning Moon
As progesterone rises, we turn inward. This phase can bring heightened intuition and focus, but also sensitivity. It’s a time for tying up loose ends, completing projects, and preparing for rest.
Ask yourself: What needs to be completed or simplified before I enter my next winter?
When we don’t understand our cycle, we often push against it,expecting the same energy, productivity, and emotional steadiness every single day. But our bodies are not built that way. By tracking our cycle and tuning into its rhythm, we can align our lives. Planning work, movement, rest, and relationships around our natural flow.
When we honour this ebb and flow, we stop fighting ourselves. We find grace in our rhythms and strength in our softness. Womb Massage can help you find this alignment and connect with your centre, understanding your own beautiful unique rhythm.
